Duties

  • Serves as a first line supervisor with technical and administrative supervisory responsibilities to include the oversight of subordinate staff performing work related to an assigned functional area.
  • Manages the review of a variety of financial policies, guidelines, data, documents, and reports to determine trends that both benefit operational efficiency and prevent operational inefficiency.
  • Provides expert interpretation on DoD and DFAS regulatory and administrative guidelines in accordance with generally accepted principles relating to finance and accounting operations.
  • Develops standard work processes to enhance detection and correction of errors, uniformity of procedures, and improvement of the organization’s productivity.
  • Advise all leadership of findings and recommendations for corrective action and coordinates with internal and external customers to improve organizational processes.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. To be hired at the GS-11 grade level: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-09 if applying at the GS-11 level) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: experience leading financial analysis operations and successfully resolving pay/entitlement challenges through expert application of financial principles, federal regulations, and established procedures. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Education

GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed higher-level graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
