Summary

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Logistics Support Team member supporting aircraft and/or non-airborne weapon systems located world-wide. Duties

  • Collects, analyzes and reports Supply support metrics for any/all categories of supply support provided to AFSOC by the Mobility Air Forces (MAF) Logistics Support Center (LSC). Coordinates with local repair contractors to insure SOF peculiar spares are expedited through the repair cycle and available for issue. Provides Supply Management Activity Group (SMAG) management and analysis to AFSOC and responds to calls for data from the LSC in regards to annual SMAG Operating Programs and monthly SMAG analysis. Performs property accountability and management. Integrates separate performance evaluations into comprehensive briefings on supply programs and their accomplishments toward improving supply support to the AFSOC mission.

Qualifications

Conditions of Employment Continued: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Logistics Management Series 0346. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of all aspects of supply/logistics management, to include wholesale operations, retail supply functions, and an understanding of commercial operations and new technology. Knowledge of a broad range of acquisition logistics supply regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Knowledge of analytical techniques to conduct studies of supply operations and to determine effectiveness of supply support. Knowledge and ability to extensively use personnel computers with database, spreadsheet, and presentation software. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Air Force, AFSOC and USSOCOM logistics management principles, concepts, policies and regulations. Knowledge and skills to prepare and present effective oral and written presentations, and to deal effectively with all levels of personnel, including key managers and operating officials. Knowledge of Air Force and AFSOC retail and wholesale logistics systems and ability to extract and analyze data resident in those systems. Knowledge of Air Force and AFSOC supply program operations, management indicators, and supply program support activities to provide technical analytical support and advisory services. Ability to carry out full range of program analytical responsibilities and duties to support world-wide major supply program and functional areas. Ability to identify problems and develop innovative solutions. Ability to maintain good working relations and to supervise effectively. Ability to plan and organize work. Ability to use Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Word and similar software to accomplish analyses. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
