Supervisory Police Officer

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoW Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Serves as Supervisory Police Officer. Responsible for administering and supervising a staff comprised of patrol supervisors, military police patrols, DA police supervisors, military police investigators, traffic accident investigators and desk sergeants comprised of military and civilian personnel.

Duties

• Responsible for administering and supervising a staff comprised of patrol supervisors, military police patrols, DA police supervisors, military police investigators, traffic accident investigators and desk sergeants.
• Serves as supervisor of military, civilians and local national.
• Exercises knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in carrying out work of the organization.
• Applies procedures and practices within the framework of established law enforcement guidelines.
• Carries out assignments independently and exercises leadership in maintaining law and order within the guidelines of the DES mission.
• Ensures the security of foreign diplomats, dignitaries, high ranking military and elected U.S. government officials.
• Supervises day-to-day patrol operations of subordinate assigned patrol areas.
• Monitors DA police work performance to include reviewing the blotter, daily staff journal, patrol and military police reports.
• Issues violation notices to violators and prepares police reports.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working with Federal, State, municipal, local law enforcement agencies for the protection of personnel property against hazards as fire, theft, damage, accidents or trespass; AND 2) Overseeing day-to-day operations of law and order functions; directing staff through subordinate supervisors/shift leaders in a police organization; AND 3) Assisting in formulating long-range operating plans based on assigned mission and functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
