Summary
Position is located at the Pine Ridge Service Unit. The incumbent will provide care and maintenance of the grounds surrounding the Hospital, staff Quarters, Field Clinics and Health Stations. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Duties
- Provide care and maintenance to facility lawns, trees, and shrubs. Properly set and adjust lawn drip irrigation system. Perform care and maintenance to streets, parking lots, culverts, drainage ditches and fences. REQUIRMENTS: On-call hours or standby duty may be required. Physical Demands: The work involves walking, sitting, standing, reaching and bending in the assessment and treatment of patients. Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): WAGE GRADE (WG)STATEMENT: Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the Federal Wage System (FWS) Job Grading Standards. Applicants will be rated in the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: In order to perform the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to have a valid state motor vehicle license to operate a government owned or leased vehicle in performance of duties. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continual standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling is required. In addition to the Condition of Employment, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: WG-05: Your resume must demonstrate experience obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Mixing prescribed pesticides, fertilizer, seasonal sod and tree or shrub planting or removal, mixing and applying asphalt, patching concrete, and independently performing emergency maintenance or repairs in a medical or industrial size facility. Adding and multiplying measurements of chemical compounds, adjusting engine and hydraulic powered equipment according to schematics, perform preventative maintenance or repairs to hydraulic, deiseal powered equipment, adding and multiplying fractions to calculate precise measurements. Perform routine yardwork using a push mower or standard riding lawn mower, standard gas power equipment such as chainsaw, weed eater, and battery or electric powered drills and saws. Use routine maintenance tools and equipment such as shovel, rake, handsaw, loading or unloading supplies, use of water hose, and safely returning and storing used equipment. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. A background investigation is a standard process used by the Federal Government to verify an individual's identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information to determine suitability for Federal service. Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability.
