Duties

• The Aviation Safety Inspector (Aircraft Dispatch) serves at the certificated dispatch/operational control expert technical authority to interface between assigned air carriers/course operators/designated aircraft dispatcher examiners (DADE) and the FAA. The incumbent will be required to complete initial new hire training to include formal and on-the-job training up to 24 months. The Aviation Safety Inspector (Aircraft Dispatch) ensures that the individuals and organizations continuously meet the standards prescribed by and applicable to Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR), agency orders and directives and ensures compliance in all aspects of dispatch and operational control-related issues through the use of a planned surveillance and inspection program on a continuing basis.

Qualifications

All applicants must meet the following basic requirements: Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal Aviation Regulations violations in the last 5 years; Valid State driver's license; Fluency in English; No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance; and High school graduate or equivalent. Medical Requirements: Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector Aircraft Dispatch position. They must: Have good distant vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed materials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted); Have the ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted); and Not have any physical condition that would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others that would interfere with the their ability to fly as passengers in a variety of aircraft. Specialized Experience Requirements: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must meet the specialized experience requirements as outlined below. Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate - must include a copy in the application Recency of experience: A portion of the applicant¿s specialized experience must have been gained within the last three years. At least two years of experience as a part 121 scheduled domestic and/or scheduled international (flag) dispatcher, and at least one year of experience in at least one of the following positions: Air Transportation Supervisor (ATS); Designated Aircraft Dispatcher Examiner (DADE); An Aircraft Dispatcher with primary responsibility for developing, creating, and/or revising dispatch manuals and procedures which require a comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulatory requirements and current FAA policy for a Part 121 Air Carrier; or A Dispatch Instructor for a Part 121 Air Carrier.
